Journal provisions

1. Purpose

The journal publishes research papers about pure and applied fluorine chemistry as well as articles necessary to the society’s functioning as a scientific society. All drafts are reviewed by the Editorial Board, which determines whether they will be published. The Society of Fluorine Chemistry, Japan, retains copyright for all papers and articles published in the journal.

2. Title and format

The journal, which is known as Fluorine in English and Fusso in Japanese, is published twice annually (in the spring and fall). The fall issue includes the proceedings of the Fluorine Chemistry Discussions. The journal is published in both printed (ISSN 1883-1567) and online (ISSN 1883-1575) editions. Part of the online edition is available through the Japan Science and Technology Information Aggregator, Electronic (J-STAGE).

3. Eligibility to submit papers for publication

Members may submit papers or articles to the journal for publication. Non-members may only submit material for publication at the request, or with the permission, of the Editorial Board.

4. Submissions

4.1 Papers or articles submitted for publication must be written in either Japanese or English.
4.2 Contributors must author their papers articles in accordance with the journal’s Submission Guidelines.
4.3 The date on which a given paper or article is accepted is the date on which it was received by the society.

5. Types and content of papers and articles

(Spring issue)
  • Forward (every issue): Comments and thoughts of a chairperson, deputy chairperson, trustee, or honorary member of The Society of Fluorine Chemistry, Japan
  • General report: An article containing analysis or explanation related to pure or applied fluorine chemistry, experimental or analytical methods, techniques, expertise, or other information that goes beyond the work being done by the author or his group to address the research field in question in a comprehensive manner
  • Feature articles planned by the Editorial Board: Feature articles published over a limited period of time as a series
  • Research and technology highlights: Technical articles introducing new products, etc.
  • Topics of lectures given by members at meetings of scientific societies during the fall of the previous fiscal year (every issue): Name of society, presenter, organizational affiliation, and topic
  • Introduction of graduation theses, master’s theses, and doctoral theses from the current fiscal year (every issue): Name of affiliated laboratory, name of student, name of faculty advisor, thesis category (doctoral, master’s, bachelor’s), thesis title
  • Other information (every issue): Notices of hosted or related meetings, new members, obituaries, list of officers, etc.
(Fall issue)

7. Acceptance/rejection of submissions, authorial revisions, return of submissions

The Editorial Board determines whether submissions will be published in the journal and reserves the right to ask authors to revise their work. If a submission for which the board requested revisions is resubmitted after two months have passed, the date on which the submission was sent back will be treated as the new date of acceptance. In addition, submissions that are not returned to the society within six months will be assumed to have been withdrawn by the author.

8. Copyright

The Society of Fluorine Chemistry, Japan, retains copyright for all papers and articles published in Fluorine.

9. Republication

Papers and articles published in Fluorine may not be redistributed online.

10. Citation of published papers and articles

Quotations from papers or articles published in the journal must cite the source as follows:
Japanese edition: Fusso
English edition: Fluorine
